Having attracted 822 investment proposals, validated by local people, the city’s participatory budgets now move into the decisive stage to prioritise them. From 22 March to 5 April, local residents will choose the 200 projects (twenty per district) which will reach the final voting stage.
The participatory budgets have attracted nearly two thousand proposals from people all around the city since the process began. Of these, 822 meet the requisites for the call, meaning they are investment projects with no associated current expenditure, are not currently being executed, fall within municipal powers, respect the economic limits etc.
Notable areas addressed by the proposals include improvements to urban space, with street calming measures (170 proposals) and work relating to greenery (107) attracting significant attention. In terms of public space, many proposals were made for general actions (78), areas around schools (81), the cycling network (64) and urban furniture (40).
By area, the district of Sants-Montjuïc attracted the most projects (128), followed by Sant Martí (102).

Prioritisation process
All people aged 14 or over and officially residing in Barcelona will be able to take part in the prioritisation stage. Each person can give their support to projects up to ten times, in any of the districts, via the Decidim Barcelona platform. The twenty projects attracting the most support in each district will enter the final voting stage in June, which will decide the distribution of up to thirty million euros of the municipal budgets between now and the end of this term of office.
