Local research and the re-establishment of democratic Barcelona
To mark the 40th anniversary of the first municipal democratic elections following the Francoist era, the second conference revolved around organisations and study centres as the principal driving force behinds the recovery of local history and the strengthening of democracy within the city’s neighbourhoods. The event was organised within the framework of a series of activities aimed at recovering the memory of some decisive years of community and labour mobilisations, as well as political, social and cultural demands which have shaped 21st-century Barcelona.
