Third conference (2021)
The incorporation of Sarrià and the configuration of contemporary Barcelona
Coinciding with the centenary of the incorporation of Sarrià, the last village on the plain of Barcelona to become part of the municipal territory of the Catalan capital, the conference will reflect on the municipal configuration of the city of Barcelona over the course of the 20th century. In the same way as Sarrià, in 1897 Santa Maria de Sants, Les Corts, Sant Gervasi de Cassoles, Gràcia, Sant Andreu de Palomar and Sant Martí de Provençals had become a part of the city, as did Horta a few years later in 1904. The inclusion of Sarrià represented a sweeping move which culminated in the municipal configuration of the city of Barcelona which still endures today.
