We are your district Archives and our job is to manage, preserve and disseminate the documentary heritage of your district.
We conserve, treat and make accessible the documents produced and received by the district municipal authorities from their origins. We also look after the fonds and collections that any organisations, institutions or individuals deposit with us by means of donations, because these are of interest for the history of Barcelona’s neighbourhoods and their inhabitants.
Our functions include:
- Guaranteeing the right of access to documentary records.
- Protecting this documentary heritage.
- Encouraging the dissemination of the documentary records and history of Barcelona’s neighbourhoods.
We also manage the district authority records and help to make the authority more effective and transparent.
The district municipal archives are part of the Barcelona Municipal Archives, along with the central archives, the Historic Archives, the Contemporary Archives and the Photographic Archives.
