Metadata schema
The Barcelona City Council metadata schema is one of the essential instruments in the management of electronic documents, as it defines the set of metadata that serves to identify, authenticate, recover, and manage the documentation produced by the City Council. It becomes one of the technical instruments of the Integral Administration of Documentation and Archives system (AIDA) of Barcelona City Council and allows us to apply methodological and technical criteria throughout the life cycle of documents, from their origin to their destruction or conservation, in a way that guarantees compliance with the Electronic Document and File Management Model.
The schema is based on the e-SIGEDA Metadata Schema of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Metadata Schema for Electronic Document Management (e-EMGDE) of the Technical Interoperability Standard. For this reason, the metadata coding follows that established in the SIGEDA schema. This coding has also been followed in those metadata belonging to the City Council which do not correspond to the e-SIGEDA metadata schema.
The schema establishes the metadata that apply to both documents and electronic files as well as their rules of use in terms of semantics, syntax, and obligation.
