Safety, coexistence and mobility operation at the Christmas City
Christmas 2021. A special operation is in place to guarantee safety, coexistence and mobility from 4 December to 9 January.

Christmas. This Christmas you can take a bus ride around the streets and places in the city which have been specially decorated and lit up, such as Pl. Catalunya, C/ Aragó and Gran Via, with their brand new lighting design.
Pi i Margall set to become a green street
The project will have a budget of 13.6 million euros, with work due to start next June and last 17 months.
New life for the block which houses the Mercat de la Sagrada Família
Urban planning. With an investment of ten million euros, this is the most ambitious renovation project in the district during this term of office.
New road surface to reduce temperatures and noise in Torrent de l’Olla
The surface is part of a pilot project conducted with the European project Life Heatland and has also been implemented in the city of Múrcia with satisfactory results.
Over 8,500 on-street parking spaces for motorbikes
Mobility and transport. The extra places have been added since the start of this term of office. The goal is to free pavements of obstacles and maintain them as safe pedestrian-friendly spaces.
More and better bike lanes for the cycling network
Between 2021 and 2023, some 28 works will create 32.6 kilometres of bike lane and improve 11.7 kilometres of the existing network.
Forty trees added to the catalogue of trees of local interest
The catalogue includes over 200 protected trees around the city.
Over a hundred kilometres of streets and squares now lit up in the Christmas City
Lighting. Over a thousand people attended the switching on of the Christmas lights in Plaça de Catalunya.
Rough sea alert activated
Safety and prevention. People are advised to avoid riverbeds and spots prone to flooding, and not to go to the city’s beaches. To prevent risks, access to breakwaters is prohibited.
