More activities at the Clariana de les Glòries
19/03/2022 - 09:47 h
The Clariana de les Glòries strengthens its role as a new outdoor facility through a programme of free leisure activities for everybody to enjoy, laid on by facilities and organisations in the surrounding area. The bulk of the programme takes place at the weekends. Located in the Parc de les Glòries, the Clariana is an open space covering 20,400 square metres, with 400 trees, 175 seats, a sports circuit of over a kilometre and a large children’s play area.
Activities offered in the Clariana are based around three interrelated areas:
- Greenery and biodiversity, promoting green spaces and biodiversity nodes as unique elements to the park.
- Educational and instructive play, providing a learning side not only for educational activities but also for leisure.
- The city’s cultural side, with a programme of culture and small-format workshops explaining and reaffirming the space and the city project.
The programme includes the history route ‘Glòries, past and future’, organised by the Farinera del Clot community centre, information and awareness activities about the environment, organised by the Barcelona Network of Environmental facilities, family activities such as storytelling, organised by El Clot Library, and educational and cultural events at the weekends which include circus and theatre workshops. The regular Tai-Chi classes continue, with a stable group of between 25 and 40 people on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 am to 11 am.
The programme of activities is being rolled out after a pilot project was conducted last summer. In addition, a service started in September offering deck chairs, tables, seats and parasols, and continues to be available for the public every day from 11 am to 7 pm. Over seventy thousand users have made use of this service to date.
