Public competition for seven plots to foster greenery and biodiversity
27/04/2022 - 13:04 h
Organisations and citizens wishing to manage an allotment, garden or biodiversity space in the city can now put forward their projects in a public competition to grant the use of seven municipally owned sites in different city districts. The initiative is part of the “Mans al verd” programme, to make people jointly responsible for the promotion and care of green spaces and biodiversity.
Use of the sites will be granted for four years, with no option to extend this period. They are located at:
- Carrer de Rosés, 8 (district of Sants-Montjuïc)
- Carretera Alta de les Roquetes, 56-58 (district of Horta-Guinardó)
- Carrer del Pintor Alsamora, 20 (district of Nou Barris)
- Passeig de Valldaura, 271 – Avinguda de Rio de Janeiro, 100 (district of Nou Barris)
- Plaça d’Isabel Vilà – Carrer dels Almogàvers, 207 (district of Sant Martí)
- Carrer de la Llacuna, 35 (district of Sant Martí)
- Carrer del Doctor Trueta, 100 – Carrer d’Àlaba, 24 (district of Sant Martí)
Who can apply?
- Non-profit organisations or legal persons, duly constituted as such.
- Natural persons: provided they take on the commitment to constitute a non-profit organisation if they are awarded the use of a plot of land.
- Collaborations between various organisations: joint participation through a single application, by two or more organisations or collectives.
Applications can be presented until 7 June, either online or in person. Criteria to be taken into consideration include: the promotion of knowledge on urban nature, energy-saving measures, economic sustainability and the ties between the proposed project and the local area.
The competition is part of the “Mans al verd” programme, included in the Nature Plan 2021-2030, the new roadmap for Barcelona City Council to plan and manage greenery in the city over the coming years and in which citizens play a very active part.
