01/10/2020 - 17:18 h

Barcelona Activa has been giving its Emprenedoria Social (social enterprise) awards for five years, recognising initiatives that have a social, responsible and sustainable impact. This year’s edition attracted sixty candidacies from sixteen different sectors, with the first prize going to a catering service which helps with the social and labour insertion of socially excluded groups.

First prize

Abarka Catering is a catering company with its roots in the Mandinka culture. It uses gastronomy to help change the image of Africa and help with the social and labour insertion of socially excluded groups.

Other prizes

The second prize, worth 6,000 euros, went to Park 4 Dis, the first parking platform to help people with reduced mobility find places where they can park and provide information on the specific regulations for each city.

NeurekaLab, a tool using tests and analysis for the early detection of learning difficulties, won the third prize, worth 3,000 euros.

Boost for the social economy

Barcelona’s social enterprise programme helps social projects which are less than a year old and offers them networked support, training and advice on business feasibility and strategy. Social projects on the programme have a survival rate of 70%.
