Cleaning frequencies for the outside of waste containers are being increased from 4 or 6 times a year to 12 times a year, rising to 24 in shopping areas. The service helps improve the quality of public spaces and is part of the Pla Endreça.

In all, eighteen special vehicles are used to clean the outside of waste containers.

While a lateral crane lifts the containers, groundwater and soap are applied with a pressure hose to clean the surface, the ground and the surrounding space.

This service comes in addition to the cleaning applied inside containers, which has a different calendar:

• Rubbish and organic waste: once a week in the summer and once a fortnight in the winter.
• Glass, plastics and metals: once a month in the summer and once a quarter in the winter.
• Paper: twice a year.
