Barcelona City Council aims to launch a call for applications for subsidies intended for science, research and innovation projects in collaboration with the La Caixa Foundation, within the framework of the Barcelona Science Plan for 2020-2023.
The purpose of these subsidies is to research innovative solutions in the fields of ageing and quality of life, mobility and environmental respect and conservation, to contribute towards Barcelona’s modernisation, in accordance with sustainable development goals (SDGs).
A further aim is to mainstream technological transformation among citizens as an accessible tool and encourage citizen participation in research activities on issues that directly affect them.
The projects have to be original and focus on one of the following three subject areas:
- Ageing and quality of life.
- Mobility and environmental respect and protection.
- Sustainable city: new technologies applied to housing, space and public services.
Projects eligible for a subsidy must meet the following requirements:
- Address urban challenges from a metropolitan, interdisciplinary perspective.
- Aim to provide scientific evidence for inspiring Barcelona’s future political decisions.
- Be original, without prejudice to the fact research lines already embarked on by the applicants may be registered there or continued.
- Deal with subjects from a local perspective, taking into account the context of Barcelona and its metropolitan area.
- Be carried out within a maximum period of eighteen months as from their date of notification.
- The projects must take gender issues into account in their treatment of scientific subjects, methodology and research-group composition.
The procedure for awarding the subsidies provided for in these rules shall be on a public competitive basis.
The application-submission period will start on 13 August and end on 13 September (first and last dates included).
As regulated in base 15 of the Regulatory Bases and point 13 of the call, a final scientific-technical report of the Project must be submitted within a maximum of three months from completion of the same This report is made up of the instance, the supporting report and the financial report. All documentation must be entered by registration, and will consist of a single instance, a single supporting report and a single financial report. However, the financial report must contain an individual report of expenses for each legal entity, and a joint report, apart from the audit report, if applicable.
