The Zurich Marató Barcelona continues to make history. Three months before it is due to take place, on 15 March 2026, the organisers have announced that all available bibs have been sold out, reaching the maximum limit of 32,000 participants.

After having broken the 30,000 registration barrier for the first time before the end of the year, the race begins 2026 by hanging up the sold out sign in record time. This means Barcelona will experience the biggest edition in the history of the marathon, far exceeding the more than 27,000 participants registered last year and establishing a new absolute participation record.

Until just a year ago, the all-time record for the event was 20,000 runners, a figure recorded in the 2016 and 2017 editions. This sustained growth consolidates Barcelona’s position as one of the great sporting destinations in Europe and definitively places the Zurich Marató Barcelona among the five most popular marathons on the continent.

Organised by RPM Sports and Barcelona City Council, the event is about to experience a historic edition that confirms the boom time for mass participation running events in the city and reinforces the international positioning of both the event and the Barcelona brand, with a clear desire to grow sustainably in the coming years.

This record comes in addition to the recently announced sell-out of the Hyundai Half Marathon Barcelona by Brooks, which will be held on 15 February and which sold out its 36,000 bibs five months in advance.
