Let's move

Barcelona City Council, with the collaboration of the Barcelona Sports Institute (IBE), the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB) and the Neighbourhood Plan, includes the “Ens Movem” [Let’s move] programme in its plan to foster sport as a healthy-lifestyle habit. In this case, it is especially aimed at senior citizens who are suffering from the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle and visit their Primary Care Centre (CAP in Catalan) regularly. These people are offered a variety of outdoor physical activities, with the main aim of improving the state of their physical, psychological and social health, thereby reducing their visits to medical centres.

ACTIVITIES AND BENEFITS

-    Walks: Various urban itineraries that help people to know the city better, especially their own neighbourhood.

-    Tai chi: Easy, harmonic movements whose aim is to encourage relaxation through mental concentration, respiration and movement.

-    Nordic Walking: Walking with sticks, which in addition to the normal benefits of walking, also improves the upper body, lung capacity and flexibility.

The activities are especially aimed at people over the age of 40, although people of any age can take part if they are interested.

You should wear comfortable clothes, sports shoes and carry a bottle of water. It is also a good idea to wear a cap.
