The summer's now here and Barcelona's reopening its 14 outdoor swimming pools and bathing spaces for the public to swim, bathe, sunbathe and, above all, refresh themselves in during the coming weeks, which promise to be hot.

There are 14 municipal outdoor swimming pools and bathing spaces to take a dip in, distributed within eight districts. They make an ideal setting for getting away from the madding crowd, offering modern, comfortable, accessible and pleasant facilities, for swimming, sunbathing or even playing with your kids.

They may be an urban environment but they’re also a kind of oasis that allow you to disconnect from city’s pace of life and spend a bit of time in peace and tranquillity. What’s more, the spaces have been prepared to satisfy all tastes and needs, as they’re open seven days a week with extended opening times and an truly varied range of offers (varying-depth and Olympic swimming pools, with children’s bathing areas, easy access, grass and hammock areas for relaxing and sunbathing in and so on). In short, a great alternative for enjoying a good summer without the need for setting foot outside the city.

New outdoor swimming pool at the CEM Trinitat Vella

One of the recently renovated is the CEM Trinitat Vella’s summer swimming pool. The work, having lasted five and half months, has changed the pool, so that it can be accessed along a slope from one of its sides. The entire outside space’s accessibility has also been improved.
