Autumn brings the return of the traditional reflection and learning activities about physical education and sports instruction. Mainly aimed at PE teachers, school sports instructors and university students, the activities got under way on 6 October at different sports facilities around the city and are due to continue at the INEFC-Barcelona until 2 December.

The Councillor for Sport, David Escudè, will be opening the ceremony and introducing the inaugural speech. “Physical activity at school: Doing so is just as important as when we do so” by Dr. Fernanda Zerón, affiliated professor and researcher at the Torribera Food Campus at the University of Barcelona. Dr. Zerón is an expert in chronobiology applied to nutrition, focusing her research on the effects of sleep, times (eating and sleeping), circadian rhythms in excess weight and obesity, as well as people’s diet and lifestyle.

Two practical workshops will follow: “Emotions from the psycho-motor perspective”, aimed at primary school staff, and “Learning situations for functional physical education”, aimed at secondary school staff.

The first session will be given by Xavier Forcadell and focuses on teaching staff how to support children in learning to regulate their emotions following psycho motor activity, such as embarrassment, fear, pleasure etc. The second session will be given by Josep Maria Piulachs and Lluís Almirall from the #EFTEam (Grup Educació Física Team), offering an activity which experiments with different skills actions within a learning situation linked to the new curriculum, responding to different assessment criteria and specific skills in the subject matter.
