On 25 December, the Port of Barcelona will once again be the scene of one of the city’s oldest sporting traditions: the Christmas Cup. Historically organised by the Barcelona Swimming Club (CNB), it is the oldest swimming race in Spain and one of the most emblematic in Europe, with the first edition held in 1908.

Like every Christmas, hundreds of swimmers will gather at the Moll de la Fusta to complete a course of around 200 metres in open water, in a race marked by the spirit of improvement, tradition and a festive atmosphere.

With over a century of history, the Christmas Cup has established itself as much more than a sporting competition. It is a symbol of Barcelona’s identity and an event that keeps the CNB’s link with the city and with the history of Catalan swimming alive.

The event on 25 December is presented, once again, as a festive occasion open to everyone, of all ages and levels, that combines sport, solidarity and the true spirit of Christmas. Athletes, families and members of the public come together in a unique atmosphere, full of energy, emotion and excitement.
