The Cursa Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana breaks records, with all places for the 11th edition now booked

Barcelona gets ready for a new edition of the Cursa Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana by Ultima, which this year celebrates its 11th edition with 15,000 people signed up to take part.

The Cursa Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana by Ultima returns with full force on the weekend of 24 and 25 May, achieving record-breaking participation figures with 15,000 places booked. The race, with a route that goes along Avinguda Diagonal from the mountain to the sea, has consolidated its position as one of the biggest solidarity sports events in Barcelona.

This year’s event includes the 5 km and 10 km races on the 25th and the DiR Kids and the Milla Urbana, which will take place on 24 May, with the aim of democratising sport and fostering the participation of people of all ages and conditions. Also, part of the registration fee will be donated to solidarity initiatives: OPEN ARMS and the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital.

Participating in this year’s race will be distinguished runners such as Reyes Estévez, Pol Espinosa, Jimmy Whelan and Kitina Silva, as well as people with inspiring stories such as Èric Domingo and his mother, Sílvia Roldán, who are taking part to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis,and the project “Corre con Nacho”, led by Núria Hernández and her son.

With this latest edition, the race reaffirms its commitment to health, sport and collective wellbeing, in a fun run that is now one of the leading popular athletics events in Barcelona.
