The traditional First Swim of the Year welcomes in 2026 with celebration and solidarity
On Thursday, 1 January at 12 noon, the First Swim of the Year solidarity event will be held on Sant Sebastià beach, in front of the CNAB. A festive activity to start 2026 with energy and solidarity.
Barcelona will once again start the year with one of the city’s most original and festive traditions: the First Swim of the Year, a solidarity event organised by the Atlètic-Barceloneta Swimming Club (CNAB). This recreational and sporting activity will take place on Thursday 1 January 2026 at 12 noon on Sant Sebastià beach, in front of the club’s facilities, and invites everyone to start the new year with energy, joy and an act of solidarity.
The initiative, which is celebrating its 27th edition and is now an integral part of the city’s festive calendar, encourages participants of all ages to jump into the Mediterranean and welcome in 2026 by sharing a dip and a festive morning on the beach.
The First Swim of the Year is not only a fun challenge for those daring enough to brave the cold January waters, but also a special way to start the year on the right foot, surrounded by community and contributing to a solidarity project that makes a tangible difference in Barcelona.
