Cloud4Cities (originally known as Cloud Barcelona) is based on the premise that local authorities provide similar services to their citizens and share needs and solutions. The ICT services’ current provision and supply models in the municipal arena have to develop steadily towards more sustainable scenarios, which operate on new, more efficient technologies, with standard uses and shared services.

Description

Cloud4Cities is an initiative for providing collaborative environments and access to municipal data in several Catalan local authorities which, by joining this project, aim to find synergies and steadily improve the management of the services that are provided to the public and businesses.

The ICT services’ current provision and supply models in the municipal arena have to develop steadily towards more sustainable scenarios, which operate on new, more efficient technologies, with standard uses and shared services.  That is why this initiative is open for other authorities to join and take advantage of Barcelona’s leadership in technologies, mobility and smart cities.

This project is possible thanks to the outstanding municipal technical and management knowledge contributed by the people involved, a willingness to cooperate and a political and technical commitment to start this new municipal ICT management model with the clear aim of ongoing collaboration and improvement, to the benefit of the public.
