The first edition of the new Women’s Day Tournament will take place at C/ Maresme, 299 in Barcelona’s Verneda i la Pau neighbourhood on 11 March from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The initiative, promoted by the Sant Martí Sports Association, was inspired by a request from a group of young people taking part in the transformative project “Joventut esportiva, societat activa”, supported by the Barcelona Provincial Council.
The volleyball tournament will be a mixed format competition, and will be open to young people aged between 14 and 20. This event is one of the activities being organised for International Women’s Day, a celebration that is becoming more important each year, with increasing numbers of people and organisations joining in to demand equality between men and women.
