David Escudé attends the official presentation of the Tour de France 2025 in Paris
The event revealed the details of the next edition of the prestigious cycling competition, setting off from French soil again in 2025 after doing so from Bilbao in 2023 and Florence in 2024.
The Barcelona Councillor for Sports, David Escudé, travelled to the Palais des Congrès in Paris this morning to take part in the official presentation of the Tour de France 2025. During the event, Escudé had meetings with Christian Prudhomme, the director general of the Tour, and Antoine Sillani, head of sport in the Hauts-de-France region, to get a first-hand account of the preparations for the Grand Départ 2025, which will take place in Lille-Nord de France.
Barcelona will host the start in 2026, an achievement that the city is fully prepared for, according to Escudé: “Barcelona is big on cycling and we’re here to learn from the experience of Lille, the goal being to offer the best start of the Tour in history”.
The event also allow for more progress on the preparations for hosting the start of the Tour de France in Barcelona in 2026, an occasion which will put the city at the centre of the world cycling scene. This meeting in Paris was an opportunity to exchange experiences and get a close-up look at the organisation process for the Grand Départ in Lille, with a view to guaranteeing Barcelona hosts the event successfully in 2026.
