The competition being held in Barcelona will act as a springboard for promising future talents in international sailing.

The twelve helmspeople from the participating teams were presented before the media yesterday, with many of them in the spotlight for the first time. This will also be the first competitive experience for many of the youngsters on board high-performance AC40 boats, which require great skill and precision.

For this edition, in contrast to the traditional Louis Vuitton Cup, the regattas will take the form of a fleet competition, with six teams competing simultaneously in each event. The SailTeam BCN, representing Spain in this competition, will be aiming to give a good account of themselves in local waters.

The Unicredit Youth America’s Cup offers a unique opportunity for these young sportspeople as they look to become consolidated as the future of world sailing. The competition is being held over the coming weeks, with plenty of interest in who will manage to shine in this demanding event.
