Activities organised by the Women's Support and Information Points to commemorate International Women’s Day.

To mark 8 March, the city’s Women’s Support and Information Points (PIAD) invite you to attend a host of free activities in different districts of the city:

Activities in the Eixample district

  • 7 to 31 March: Exhibition: ‘Where does the time go?” At the Espai 210 Neighbourhood Centre.
    Difficulties in balancing work with personal and family life have made time management a key issues in terms of wellbeing. No prior booking required.
  • 16 March: Clown workshop: “Women with Big Red Noses” At the Espai 210 Neighbourhood Centre, from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • 24 March: Workshop for women: “Take good care of yourself” At the Eixample Esquerra Senior Citizens’ Social Centre, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

  • 25 March: Workshop: “Theatre of the Oppressed” At the Transformadors Neighbourhood Centre, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

  • 15 March: Taster session for women: “Take good care of yourself” At the Senior Citizens’ Neighbourhood Centre, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    A theoretical and practical workshop providing tips on how to take care of yourself through stretching, self-massage and relaxation techniques, and more. Prior booking required at the Sant Ildefons Senior Citizen’s Neighbourhood Centre.
  • 31 March: Taster session: “Self-care for women who want to improve their relationships” At the Vallvidrera Civic Centre, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • 26 March: Self-defence taster session At the La Sedeta Youth Centre, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • 7 March: Talk: “Reducing stress and anxiety” At the Carmel Library – Juan Marsé Assembly Hall, from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
    At this talk we’ll be discussing how stress and anxiety work, what you can do to deal with these feelings, and how to stop being afraid of them. No prior booking required.

  • 3 March: Talk: “The history of feminism” At the Bon Pastor Senior Citizens Neighbourhood Centre, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
      Who were the first women to start to fight to improve women’s living conditions? How did the feminist movement begin? How has feminism evolved up to today? Prior booking required at the Bon Pastor Senior Citizen’s Neighbourhood Centre.
  • 11 March: Taster session: “Gender microaggressions” At the Bascònia Senior Citizens’ Neighbourhood Centre, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    Gender microagressions have become ‘normalised’ within society to the point where they are so commonplace across different domains such as the home, work environments, on the street, and in society in general that we don’t even notice them. This talk aims to make the power relations that underpin this process and the different types of gender microaggression more visible, and to understand how they impact on our health and self respect as well as to share tools for identifying and defusing these forms of violence.   • 11 March: Taster session: “Self-defence” At the La Palmera Senior Citizens’ Neighbourhood Centre, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    The aim of this feminist self-defence workshop is to reduce violence against women and other dissident identities through empowerment and prevention, as well as by increasing self-esteem and collective solidarity. Prior booking required at the La Palmera Senior Citizen’s Neighbourhood Centre.
  • 12 March: Talk: “Women’s health and wellbeing” At the Centro Castellano Leonés, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
    The aim of the talk is to provide a space for exchange, reflection and debate on the value of taking a total health approach for all women, looking at the effect of gender inequalities on women’s health and the impact of the Covid-19 crisis, which has exposed the unprecedented health, social and economic crisis in which, once again, women have been the most adversely affected. No prior booking required.
