Vacancies for people with disabilities to check accessibility at children’s play areas

14/10/2020 - 15:45 h

The Diversem Employment Plan, launched by the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities (IMPD), is to recruit fifty people with functional diversity to help check accessibility at children’s play areas in the city. The people hired will start work on a staggered basis as from November. Applications can be made via the City Council’s procedures website up to 30 October.

The positions on offer are for technical auxiliaries and helpers. The fifty people hired will get six-month contracts as from November, with the exception of the technical staff chosen to coordinate the projects, who will get seven-month contracts.

The goal of the Diversem plan is to help develop a map and a database on the state of accessibility to children’s play areas in the city. This includes parks and green areas, children’s play areas, squares and superblocks. At the same time, the idea is to foster labour inclusion for people with disabilities. The work will be carried out with the collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens and the Barcelona Institute for Children and Teenagers. The data gathered will be included in the Barcelona Plan for Play.

Anybody interested in applying must have an accredited disability of 33% or more, permanent incapacitation or a medically recognised mental health disorder. They must also be unemployed, registered with the Catalan Employment Service and not be paying social security contributions in any category. Applicants must also have the education or training required for the professional category they apply for.

Applications can be made until 30 October via the Barcelona City Council Virtual Procedures Office.
