What you can find at the Sarrià - Sant Gervasi Archives
The workshop involves a role play and the application of the case-study method. Each class is subdivided into six groups, each with different professional profiles (architects, historians, engineers, urban planners and so on). These groups carry out a specific task linked to their profession based on documents kept in the archives (street and general maps, photographs, historical documents, administrative files, etc.).
The work groups will be formed before the visit to the archives and given their own specific work plan, clearly indicating the task they have to carry out. Once they are at the archives, they will occupy six separate spaces where they will be helped and supervised by an archivist.
Its learning goals are to:
- Point out the municipal archives’ functions and services.
- Explain how useful the documents we keep are for both the general public and architects, historians, engineers, urban planners, etc.
- Analyse and apply the research possibilities the documents offer.
