Itinerary along Dreta de l'Eixample’s iconic buildings
We offer an itinerary of discovery, based on documents conserved at the Arxiu Municipal de Barcelona, focusing on a very specific area in Dreta de l’Eixample and covering a series of buildings which, while not the best known in the area (noted for being the location of the city’s great Modernista architecture), deserve to be pointed out, such as the Cases Cerdà, the Casa Pomar, the Mercat de la Concepció and the Eixample’s District Headquarters.
The route starts at the corner of Carrer de Roger de Llúria and Carrer del Consell de Cent and ends at the junction between Carrer de València and Carrer de Bailén, taking us back to a time in the city’s history when this Eixample area became the place of residence of the more famous bourgeoisie, as reflected in the buildings that the great developers of the period constructed there. A good part of this architecture (mainly private) is the type covered by this itinerary.
