Planting of trees and vegetation returns after the drought
The recovery of urban greenery starts with 2,000 trees being planted this year, rising to 7,500 in 2026. The species to be planted need less water, with watering to be adapted to the current restrictions. The measures are part of the Climate Plan.
The planting includes bushes, with plants, meadows, grass and others to follow at a later date.
Comprehensive actions will also be carried out in certain spaces in the city: starting in Av. Mistral, in the district of L’Eixample, in Pl. Prat de la Rba, in Les Corts, in the Jardins de Joan Vinyoli, in Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, and in Pl. Joanic and Trav. Gràcia, in the district of Gràcia.
Greater use of alternative water resources
The plan for the recovery of greenery is accompanied by improvements in the watering system and the use of the groundwater network.
A few months from now it will be possible to water 186 hectares of greenery with this system, saving 115,000 cubic metres of water a year.
