The parks and gardens of Barcelona

Parks and gardens are more than just green spaces; they are the beating heart of our city, where nature and urban life meet to create unique and welcoming environments.

These places not only make Barcelona a more liveable city, they are also places where people meet, socialise and find moments for recreation and relaxation.

Whether they are large urban parks or small secluded gardens, all of these spaces allow you to enjoy nature without having to leave the city.

Barcelona has a wide variety of parks and gardens that you can see on our map.

You can also download the pocket map with a list of the most interesting parks and gardens in the city.

What do green spaces have to offer?

Image

Urban greenery is essential for our quality of life and for tackling climate change.

For this reason, Barcelona has prioritised the conservation and expansion of green infrastructure. Barcelona's green spaces provide ecological and socio-cultural values such as:

  • Nature and biodiversity: they help to maintain a rich and varied ecosystem.
  • Health and well-being: they offer spaces where people can exercise, relax and be in touch with nature, which contribute to their physical and mental health.
  • Landscape and culture: they contribute to the beauty and identity of our city.
  • Social relations: they foster socialising and strengthen community ties.
  • Environmental quality: vegetation regulates the urban microclimate, as it reduces atmospheric pollutants and creates humidity that reduces temperatures. It also reduces noise.

Conservation and protection

The conservation of our natural heritage is a constant endeavour. Every day we have to contend with external factors and the impact of human activity, which can affect our green spaces.

Therefore, we implement actions through strategic plans and conservation programmes to protect the green heritage, flora and fauna and their habitats.

Explore and enjoy our parks and gardens. Nature awaits you in every corner of Barcelona.

We strive every day to ensure that nature grows in as many corners of the city as possible.
