Repair
When an object stops working or breaks, this does not mean that it cannot be repaired. Sometimes, by replacing just one element of the object, it will start working perfectly again. This extends its useful life and means that you won't need to buy a new one.
Both society and the economic system are based on a throwaway culture, generating such a quantity of waste and consuming natural resources at such a rate that our planet simply cannot cope. Throwing something away without giving it a second lease of life should always be the last option.
It is almost always cheaper to repair an object than to buy a new one that does the same thing. If we spend some time fixing products that have broken or stopped working, we will save on the production of raw materials, consume less energy and help to preserve the environment.
Repair projects
Various events are held in Barcelona to repair objects. These programmes are based on giving people the necessary knowledge and providing them with suitable tools for repairing their appliances, thus offering the possibility of lengthening their useful life.
The ultimate goal of these projects is to reduce the volume of waste generated in the city and the damage that means for the environment, as well as providing the public with new techniques for fixing things that no longer work.
