Collection of rubble sacks
In a city like Barcelona, a large number of minor home renovations are carried out on a daily basis. Naturally, the rubble and waste generated during these operations needs to be properly managed.
Rubble generated during construction tasks must be left in the street in approved sacks and skips that are properly identified with the company name and telephone number of the owners, the company's certification codes and the identification code that proves that the corresponding municipal tax has been paid. It is the responsibility of the company to print out a label confirming its name and telephone number and to stick it to the sack. It is also the responsibility of the building permit holder to ensure the correct management of this waste.
Rubble sacks must be removed within 24 hours of being placed in the street, if this is not within an enclosed area of the site. They must also be taken to an authorised waste manager. If, after notifying the company responsible for the collection, it does not respond or does not provide the service, call (+34) 900 226 226 to report the incident.
If the rubble sacks are to be placed on the pavements, a pedestrian crossing area measuring at least one metre wide must be provided. These shall preferably be installed in front of the construction site, without impeding the visibility of vehicles. They may not be placed on pedestrian crossings, fords, prohibited parking areas, utility access covers and tree pits. Neither may they block the flow of surface water.
