Open call for the cession of municipal spaces for community use to foster greenery and biodiversity
The Hort de la Colònia Castells (Les Corts), the Espai Travessera (Gràcia) and the Hort dels Pebrots (Sant Martí) are the sites in the call. Application period from 26 November to 12 January, inclusive.
This initiative is part of the “Mans al verd” project by the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens, which promotes the activation of green spaces on municipal sites that are currently unused. The plots are for non-profit organisations to develop self-managed allotments or communal gardens, with proposals that foster the link with nature, biodiversity and urban greenery.
Use of the sites is granted to an organisation for a period of four years and contributes to the environment and social cohesion of the neighbourhood by involving local people and social stakeholders. A new call has been opened until 12 January and the sites being made available are the Hort de la Colònia Castells in Les Corts, the Espai Travessera in Gràcia and the Hort dels Pebrots in Sant Martí.
These community spaces represent a step towards a greener, more sustainable and participatory Barcelona which improves people’s quality of life.
