Queni Allotment
This is an allotment measuring 1350 m². The space is equipped with vegetable and herb crop tables used for sensory sessions targeted at people with deafblindness, as well as for activities that raise awareness on this disability through the creation of a sensory museum or garden of the senses. It also has marquees which are used for storage and as workshop areas, and a composter that is heavily used by the community.
Queni Allotment was promoted by APSOCECAT with the goal of creating a space to integrate people with deafblindness, promote their visibility and raise awareness among the public.
It is a place aimed at providing opportunities for socialising and interaction with the local environment, a collaborative project to bring together the community and people with sensory disabilities.
The space also hosts volunteers interested in supporting the participants. It also collaborates with gardening schools and local secondary schools for artistic projects, such as decorating walls and other spaces.
Residents are welcome to participate in the scheduled activities and learn first-hand about the experience of living with the loss of the two main senses: seeing and hearing.
