Itinerary through Sant Andreu. History, heritage and memory of Sant Andreu del Palomar
We propose an itinerary through the neighborhood of Sant Andreu, through the center of what used to be the old town of Sant Andreu de Palomar. Starting from the emblematic Plaça d'Orfila, the route runs through streets that still recall events and ways of life of one of the oldest municipalities in the Barcelona Plan. The aim is to show a part of the district based on the architecture and documents from the funds of the Barcelona Municipal Archives.
The “Sant Andreu” that is discovered along this route is a neighborhood linked to the history of the Roman road that gave access to Barcelona and the “Rec Comtal”, which conditioned its economic development. But it is also a living neighborhood, full of memory, with a vindictive trajectory where the social and democratic claims are still very much alive and part of the collective identity. Enjoy it!
