Barcelona: Digital innovation to build the future

Starting point

Technology makes the everyday life of city resident easier and public services more accessible and is helping us to build our city.

Barcelona is aiming for an inclusive future, with the collaboration of everyone and with transparency as the cornerstone of its activity.

Barcelona is committed to being competitive and diversified, capable of generating synergies between avant-garde enterprises and global-benchmark research centres. It aims to create and attract talent in the key sectors for the future, such as biotechnology, electromobility, the blue economy and Industry 4.0.

Barcelona is the fourth most attractive city in the world for investing in R&D and the continent’s fifth-largest technology hub in attracting investments. It is a innovation-ecosystem leader in the south of Europe.

A city working to make its streets and neighbourhoods friendly, healthy and safe for everyone. And where technology enables us to manage them efficiently. A city that is making steady progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Barcelona is a city ready for building the future.

Scope

We have several initiatives for building Barcelona's future, focusing on: digitising administrative processes, or on the city’s everyday life, for achieving a more sustainable, healthier and greener city, which promotes digital talent and fights against the digital divide, fostering innovation and the competitiveness of enterprises, and putting the emphasis on urban innovation, not to mention the digital rights of city residents.
