Itinerary through Sant Martí. From the factory to the Casino: the working world in Poblenou

We propose an itinerary to discover the past of the old town of Sant Martí de Provençals, especially the Poblenou neighborhood, based on what is explained in the documents kept in the Municipal Archives of Barcelona and, more specifically, those preserved in the Municipal Archives of the District of Sant Martí. The route starts at the Rambla del Poblenou and ends at Casino L’Aliança, while having the Taulat area as the central axis of the walk to discover the historic buildings and most emblematic places of this unique neighborhood.

Poblenou is one of the neighborhoods where modernity is best combined with the industrial past and where it is easy to imagine what life would be like for the adults and children who lived and worked there. The streets, squares and passages preserve traces of the past, as well as public and private buildings, most of them of industrial architecture. Much of this architecture can be traced along this itinerary. Enjoy it!
