Sant Martí

The Gabriel García Márquez Library aims to be a reference point for local information and knowledge. With a proactive spirit, it strives to collect and disseminate a large part of the memory of the old town of Sant Martí de Provençals and its neighbourhoods, which now form part of the present-day Sant Martí district, with a particular focus on La Verneda in Sant Martí.

A plural everyday life, full of experiences, which you will find in books, magazines and other publications, but also in multimedia and audiovisual formats, with projects like “Així ho recordem: memòria dels veïns i veïnes de Sant Martí de Provençals, la Verneda i la Pau” [We remember that: memory of local residents of Sant Martí de Provençals, la Verneda and la Pau].

The library also aims to be a home and loudspeaker for authors linked to the territory and to promote the creation of individual and collective cultural initiatives which are of interest to the community.

In its local dissemination work, the library periodically organises a number of activities linked to this collection and to knowledge about the district's various neighbourhoods. These activities include the trails “Sant Martí barri a barri”.
