Come to the exhibition 'The future is here'

Learn all about how the Barcelona Superblock Plan will transform the city's streets

From 6 to 28 May, at the Sant Antoni Market Pit

The Eixample is about to launch one of the most significant changes it has experienced in recent decades. Works to turn parts of Carrer del Consell de Cent, Carrer Rocafort, Carrer del Comte Borrell and Carrer Girona into green hubs will start around the middle of this year. In addition, four large squares of roughly 2,000 square metres each will also be created at the junctions between these green hubs (Carrer Consell de Cent with Carrer Rocafort, Carrer del Comte Borrell, Carrer Enric Granados and Carrer Girona). This transformation will be complete in the first quarter of 2023.

The Barcelona of the 21st century is now taking shape with major initiatives that will turn they city into a space that can tackle the challenges facing global cities while ensuring a better way of living in it.

These, together with other major works being carried out in Barcelona (such as the new Via Laietana and the new Meridiana, connecting the tramlines that run along Carrer Diagonal and the great transformation of Glòries), are the first steps towards creating a more human city designed for its residents.

A large-format exhibition in the Market Pit

Barcelona City Council is holding a large-format exhibition in the Sant Antoni Market Pit to show the city's residents what these new green hubs and squares in the Eixample will look like. A set of large structures and virtual images will show local residents what these spaces will look like following the completion of the works.

The exhibition also includes a large model of the city of Barcelona on which an audiovisual piece will be projected explaining how urban planning for the Eixample has evolved from its beginnings to the present day.

Furthermore, the exhibition will take place in the Sant Antoni Market Pit, a space reclaimed for the public in the heart of the Sant Antoni Superblock, one of the first examples of the new urban model for Barcelona that is now taking shape.
